Sri Lankan school students are required to wear a uniform regardless of their school affiliation. In government and semi-government schools, boys typically wear a short-sleeved white shirt and navy blue shorts in junior grades, transitioning to white shorts and white trousers later in school. A tie may be worn for special events, and black dress shoes and socks are also required. Some schools require the school’s insignia to be stitched to a corner of the shirt’s pocket.
